Die Oldenburger Öffentlichkeit zeigt Gesicht!

– gegen politische Morde und das Verschwindenlassen auf den Philippinen

Oldenburg. Während strahlenden Sonnenscheins informierte die Menschenrechtsinitiative Sumabay Tayo! Walking together – for Justice! mit einem Stand und einigen Plakaten beim fünften Oldenburger Menschenrechtstag am 4. September 2010 über die Menschenrechtsverletzungen in den Philippinen und deren gesundheitliche Auswirkungen.

Seit 2001 sind in den Philippinen über 1200 Menschen Opfer von politisch motivierten Morden geworden und über 200 Personen verschwunden. Die Angehörigen der Opfer und die Überlebenden sind schweren psychischen und physischen Belastungen ausgesetzt. „Das ist das erste Mal, dass ich von der erschreckenden Situation auf den Philippinen höre“, sagt ein Besucher des Menschenrechtstages in der Oldenburger Innenstadt.

On the last Monday Demonstrations in Stuttgart, Germany, in August and in the coming Monday Demonstration on the 6th of September 2010 we counted  and still count – as it was decided by the Monday-Demonstration Movement Stuttgart in our partnership agreement between the Monday-Demonstration-Movement  in Stuttgart and the family Balao and Cordillera People Alliance (CPA) of October 2008- the days of the disappearance of James Balao. Tomorrow it will be the 713rd day of the disappearance of James Balao- what a shame!!

On the Monday Demonstration in Stuttgart, Germany, 23rd  of August 2010 we counted  as it was decided by the Monday-Demonstration Movement Stuttgart in our partnership agreement between the Monday-Demonstration-Movement  in Stuttgart and the family Balao and Cordillera People Alliance (CPA) of October 2008- the days of the disappearance of James Balao. Today it was the 699th day of the disappearance of James Balao
and soon it will be the 17th of September, the day on which James Balao was enforced disappeared on the street of his hometown La Trinidad by military and secret agents of the state.

While here in Stuttgart one demonstration follows the other ( on Saturday nearly 20 000 and on Monday something about 10 000 participants) and the next demonstration will be prepared as a chain of people round the mainstation of Stuttgart, we have to inform you  about a sad letter of the Cordillera Peoples Alliance August 4, 2010. They wrote:

Today it was the 664th day of the disappearance of James Balao.

By this protest email we will informe you as well about an initiative to support  the Hand for an Orphan project of the Children’s Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines. The 14 year old Filipino  Kyle, living with his parents in the Netherlands, walked 2009  3 days in „Kyle’s Walk of the World“ to raise a total of 2,035.00 Euros, supporting 6 orphans with their educational and nutritional needs. These orphans are the children of killed or enforced disappeared activist in the Philippines.
