I was the one to send the letters and information to friends abroad regarding the tragedy that happened in Kias, Baguio City. I am sorry for the delay . However, we are very thankful of the donation you collected and we are hopeful to receive it soon.
On the Monday Demonstration, 10th of August 2009, we counted – as
it was decided by the Mondaydemonstration Movement Stuttgart in his
partnership agreement – the days of the disappearance of James Balao.. It
was the 308th day. Even there were in the last fortnight no
solidarity-circulars, the solidarity-movement never stops and will never
stop!
Today a participant of the German-French Worker Solidarity Group
of Daimler Automitive-Workers together with his wife and the candidates of
MLPD/OpenList in Stuttgart/Baden-Württemberg Peter Borgwardt and Volker
Kraft for the nationwide parlament election in September 27th
expressed their deep solidarity over the borderline with the family of
James Balao and all opressed people in the world. Other parties like CDU, SPD,
FDP, Gruene and Linke were invited but they disdn´t come
Kyle is very happy to have been able to achieve his goal of
collecting 1000 Euros for the benefit of the Children’s Rehabilitation
Center’s (CRC) „A Hand for an Orphan“ program. We are confident that the
total collections will even reach 1500 Euros when all the pledges come in!
That would mean more books, toys and education materials for the
orphans.
In the Philippines, children from the Salinlahi Alliance for
Children’s Concerns and CRC, and other advocates for children’s rights
also marched on the streets in solidarity with Kyle. They joined thousands
of others in the Lakbayan (People’s March) from the Southern portion of
Luzon island to Manila, in preparation for Monday’s (27 July) State of the
Nation Address (SONA) protest actions. The children carried the banners:
„Walk with Kyle, Walk for Justice“ and „Walk for Justice, Walk for
Peace“.

The experience was really very special for the entire family. On behalf

US-amerikanische Kolonie

Am 12. Juni 1898 wurde in den Philippinen die Republik ausgerufen – ein Fanal des Freiheitskampfes in der Region. Doch ihre Unabhängigkeit erlangten die Inseln von den (nach Spanien) neuen US-Kolonialherren erst am 4. Juli 1946. Der 12. Juni 1998, so sah es die Regie der seinerzeit eigens geschaffenen National Centennial Commission unter dem Vorsitz des damaligen Ex-Vizepräsidenten Salvador H. Laurel vor, sollte den Höhepunkt der Feierlichkeiten im Gedenken an den 100. Jahrestag der Proklamation der Unabhängigkeit der Philippinen bilden. Doch was eigentlich gab und gibt es zu feiern? In jenen Sommertagen der Jahrhundertfeiern gab bereits die philippinische Kolumnistin Marites Danguilan Vitug eine Antwort, die allerdings im offiziell verordneten Jubelchor unterging: „100 Jahre Unabhängigkeit? Nein. 100 Jahre Freiheit und Demokratie? Mitnichten. Wir begehen lediglich den 100. Geburtstag der Unabhängigkeitserklärung”, so die Journalistin, „der Bildung einer kurzlebigen Republik im Jahre 1898, bevor sich die Amerikaner der Inseln bemächtigten und 50 Jahre lang unsere Geschicke und Geschichte bestimmten.”

GIANT QUILT FOR GIANT ANTI-GLORIA PROTEST ON SONA

Am 27.7.09 hält die Präsidentin der Philippinen Gloria Arroyo eine
Regierungserklärung. Die Opposoition befürchtet, dass sie den weiteren
Abbau demokratischer Rechte bis hin zur möglichen Verfassungsänderung (
Cha Cha = Charter Change) ankündigen wird. Sie will unbedingt weiter in
Amt bleiben.
In diesem Jahr gibt es deshalb eine breite Protestbewegung des
philippinischen Volkes mit der Forderung nach dem Rücktritt der
Präsidentin aus ihrem Amt.
Die Frauenorganisation GABRIELA hat landesweit mobilisiert, dass
lokale Gruppen Transparent-Teile mit ihren Forderungen erstellen und
mitbringen. Diese Teile werden dann in Manila zu einem gßen gemeinsamen
Transparent zusammen genäht. Bis jetzt ist das Transparent 5 mal 12
Meter lang. Vorne dran sind auch die Industriearbeiter von Toyota,
Nestle, Honda…aus der Industriezone Laguna.
